Outlying Areas of Seim Reap

Mountain Bananas- some of the yummiest bananas I've ever eaten

River of Ten Thousand Lingas

Phnom Kulen
There was really neat reclining buddha up this mountain outside of Siem Reap.  When we pulled into the parking lot and went to use the outhouse, my friend Sarah and I were greeted by 3 little kids and 1 young teenager.  They of course wanted money, but I didn't have any to give them.  I wouldn't have given them money because I know they don't get to keep what they earn.  But, they were mighty persistent.  I ended up giving the teenage girl a pony tail holder (she was ecstatic), and the 3 younger children received a small first aid kit that I carry everywhere I go (well, used to anyway), a pack of kleenex and a pack of baby wipes.  They were all quite pleased with their goods.  I wished I had had some snacks with me that I could have given them.

Goat sacrifice?

Even monks need cell phones

Stay tuned for Phnom Penh.  Until next time....
