Myanmar Part I

The last part of our 31 day trip was to visit Myanmar.  I fell in love with Myanmar and her people.
We saw so many temples and maybe if I had written these posts right away I would have remembered them or maybe not, but regardless, I don't remember them now.  Our first few days we spent in Yangon.  I wish I had some pictures of the various forms of public transportation but I never managed to get any!  We were a bit nervous about eating out in Myanmar because we were warned about everyone getting sick.  I was religious about taking my Juice Plus, but B was not and he ended up terribly sick.  We ate one night Indian food at some random food hall and it was so good!  One would think that's what made him sick but it was actually food from the hotel (we think).  Poor guy was so sick in the middle of the night and we had to get up to fly really early.  Well, moving on to pictures.  Here is the first of many Buddhas and temples.

We loved the blinky light Buddhas!

Then we visited the Shwedagon Pagoda with a tour guide (so we actually have pictures together!).  While visiting the Shwedagon Pagoda it was raining, yes we visited during the rainy season and saved a lot of money.  It didn't matter so much since we were barefoot.  Myanmar is a very conservative country and I therefore used my most favorite scarf/wrap as a skirt and always had my shoulders covered.  B had to have his knees and shoulders covered as well.  We were treated to many smiles and people asking where we were from and practicing English with us.  I think while we were there we only saw 4 other "white" people.  We both paid respect to our birth day and said a special prayer for children at another Buddha.

My birth day- Saturday

B's birth day- Friday

Next up is Bagan, where you will again be bombarded with many pictures of temples and pagodas.  Until next time.
